This dataset accompanies the study "Characterization, validation, and spectral optimization of a dedicated breast CT system for contrast-enhanced imaging." It includes the implementation and validation of a cascaded system model for breast CT (bCT), with a focus on system performance characterization in the projection domain to support optimization of 4D dynamic contrast-enhanced breast CT (4D DCE-bCT). The dataset contains model predictions and empirical measurements of the modulation transfer function (MTF), normalized noise power spectrum (NNPS), air kerma at different tube currents, and iodine detectability for various beam filtrations. Analysis scripts and spectral simulation files are included to support reproducibility.
This dataset was created as part of the EU-funded project BREAST4D (Grant Agreement ID: 864929, DOI: 10.3030/864929), which aimed to develop and validate a 4D breast imaging modality for personalized breast cancer treatment.
