This dataset supports the publication “Comparative image quality and dosimetric performance of two generations of dedicated breast CT systems” (Pautasso J.J. et al., Med Phys. 2025). It includes image quality and dose assessment data comparing a first-generation (GEN1) and a second-generation (GEN2) dedicated breast CT system. The evaluation covers modulation transfer function (MTF), noise power spectrum (NPS), detective quantum efficiency (DQE), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and visibility of calcifications. Dosimetric metrics include air kerma, tube output, and mean glandular dose (MGD). The dataset also provides scripts for dose estimation, X-ray spectrum simulation using SpekPy, and analysis files for visualization and statistical comparison. This dataset was created as part of the EU-funded project BREAST4D (Grant Agreement ID: 864929, DOI:10.3030/864929), which aimed to develop and validate a 4D breast imaging modality for personalized breast cancer treatment.
