In this thesis we present the results obtained with optical experiments on single-crystalline samples of TIPS-tetracene (5,12-bis((triisopropylsilyl)ethynyl)tetracene). These measurements have been performed in high magnetic fields (0–38 T) and at low temperatures (0.3–50 K). Under these extreme circumstances we have extensively studied the strongly-coupled triplet-pair states and investigated their role in the singlet fission process.
